Since a childhood spent on a boat in Cyprus, Charlie Head has had saltwater in his blood. But Charlie no longer has adventures in anything as comfortable as a boat. Instead he faces the elements on a stand up paddleboard (SUP). Since getting on his first SUP eight years ago, Charlie has achieved a number of firsts, whether paddling down the Amazon and through the Arctic's freezing waters.

Oisin Creagh

In August 2016 I started out on a fund raising flying expedition in aid of Gorta - Self Help Africa, to link Ireland to Africa by making a 3,000km paramotor flight from Ireland to Africa. The expedition involved three sea crossings totalling over 100km of open and busy sea stretches, the North Irish Sea, the English Channel, and the Straits of Gibraltar. I was provided with ground support by a good flying friend John Drew, who followed along in my camper van for the entire journey.

One Wild Ride

Most of us rarely leave our home without keys. It gives most of us a sense of security. So, when I climbed into a 13ft sailing dinghy in May 2016, with the brash intention of sailing it and myself singlehanded around the entire coastline of Ireland, my friends, family and supporters wanted to know that I'd be ok. We all knew I wasn't going to navigate 1500km of exposed Irish coastline wearing sunglasses and sipping Kool aid! They, like me, needed that sense of security. A way to stay in touch. A way to see me when they literally couldn't. A way for me to be safe whatever happened. In practical terms that way was by wearing and operating a SPOT Gen 3.

Round the world without changing gear

Edinburgh-based adventure cyclist Markus Stitz recently fulfilled one of his biggest dreams - a gruelling 34,000km ride around the world on a singlespeed mountain bike.

His ride on a Surly Ogre bike took him through 26 countries in less than twelve months. Despite only having one gear, Markus avoided easy, flat routes and climbed a total of 34km in vertical height, which is more than 38 times the height of Mount Everest

A group of expert powerboat racers and adventurers known as Team Hibernia love to break speed records.

Team Hibernia is headed by John Ryan, Team Manager and Owner, and he is supported by fellow crewmembers, Philip Fitzgibbon (Navigator and Co Driver), professional sailor Denis Dillon (Communications) and Sean McNamara (Tactical and Logistics).

Namibian Glider Rescue

François and Chantal Hersen are keen glider pilots. Living in France, they have travelled extensively in Europe on their gliding adventures and have had a SPOT Gen3 with a subscription to Extreme Tracking since 2013.
In January 2016 they embarked on four-week adventure in Namibia. From their base at renowned gliding centre Bitterwasser Lodge, they planned to take a glider across the Kalahari Desert.

Marty Schnure and Ross Donihue

Marty Schnure and Ross Donihue are a place-based visual storytelling team. They are currently in the field creating maps of the Future Patagonia National Park in Chilean Patagonia, as part of a National Geographic-sponsored mapping expedition. Marty and Ross are collecting geogrpaphic and multimedia content to develop a vistor's guide and a interactive map, eventually allowing people from all over the world the explore the park.

Todd Anders Johnson

Todd Anders Johnson is a professional media producer and backcountry snowboarder with AIARE, wilderness first responder and wilderness first aid certifications. He has been able to merge his love of the outdoors /snow sports with his passion for music/media with his band, Salem. He and his band have played at some of the biggest ski and snowboard events like Copper Grand Prix, the Telluride VISA Cup, EXPN's Winter X 12 Games, the 48 Straight King of the Mountain in Sun Valley, the US Freeskiing Open in Copper, and the Northface Masters US Snowboarding World Championships in Girdwood, Alaska.

David Wright

Award winning filmmaker and photographer David Wright has worked in over 35 countries, including spending long periods in the Australian Outback and two years in Arctic Svalbard, shooting the National Geographic film Realm of the Great White Bear. The story followed a family of polar bears through an epic Arctic odyssey. The project won an Emmy for Achievement in Documentary Filmmaking and an Emmy nomination for Cinematography. Other recognition includes a Jules Verne Award and BAFTA.

Dan is also a founding member and on the board of directors for the Professional Hiking Guides Association (PHGA) and a member of the American Mountain Guides Association.
