It turns out a few search and rescue team members across North America are SPOT users just like you! They’ve sent us rescue stories and tips on enduring a rescue situation if you ever have to press the SOS button.

 

A SPOT user and member of a Colorado mountain rescue team shared with us some of his recommendations on what fellow SPOT users can do to help SAR find you if you ever have to activate SOS.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Rescued After Going On Solo Hike PDF Print E-mail

june11_trooperAfter breaking off from a group, Friday, May 13, off-duty Washington state trooper, Dan Anderson went on a solo hike in the Cascade Mountains. Before settling for the night, Anderson realized he had lost his tent somewhere along the hike. Without proper protection from the rain and snow, he was unable to withstand the freezing temperature in his sleeping bag.

Shared Pages Now Editable PDF Print E-mail

Using Shared Pages has always been a great way to share your adventures. However, if you added devices to your account or wanted to change settings on your Shared Pages, those features were not available. Now, Shared Pages are totally editable! To check it out or make changes to your Shared Pages, follow these steps…

  • Go to the Share tab in your account at findmeSPOT.com.
  • Click Edit/Manage Shared Page. If you don’t have any Shared Pages set up, you don’t know what you’ve been missing! Choose Create Shared Page instead.
  • If you do have Shared Pages, select the Shared Page that you want to edit and then click Edit Shared Page in the “Actions on selected Shared Pages Menu” (see image below).
